2020 is clearly the year of C-O-R-O-N-A. You’re living under a rock if you don’t know that. Though, I think if you’re under a rock large enough to live under you’re probably just dead so I guess you would naturally be out of the loop.
But for real, that will be this year’s legacy. And for the dead under said rock, let me enlighten you as to why: F9 is coming this May, continuing the saga of Dominic Toretto and his Corona-guzzling racing family!
It’s been nearly three years since 2017’s The Fate of the Furious showed us that the saga could continue -- at least in some form -- without Paul Walker; an amazing humanitarian, actor and inspiration to myself (more on him at a later date).
But now the gang is back, and then some ...
**SPOILERS FROM THE TRAILER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE**
Is Han, the beloved character who’s death in part 3 was a catalyst for part 7 while also being featured alive in parts 5 and 6, FRICKEN BACK?
While I appreciate a dramatic turn of events, the story implications of this is the cheapening of Letty’s resurrection in part 6. Letty was not clearly killed, Han was. The postponing of his death by squeezing the sequels into the timeline before that fate was very clever and teased a lot ...
… so if he’s alive it makes that journey for naught. But maybe things are not as they seem. Maybe it’s one of those scenes they put in the trailer and cut out the film? I kind of hope so. #sorrynotsorry

Speaking of Corona, there is a little coronavirus going around lately that prompted SXSW to cancel and even the postponing of films like No Time To Die from April to November. There is likely to be more cancellations of films as studios get cold feet about the turn-outs.
But hallelujah for the big-bald Vin “family, family, oh family” Diesel! He told USA Today that “we need movies now more than ever. We’re already in a very interesting time where cinema and the cinematic experience is so threatened. So, yes, put it on record we’re going to show up.”
So. Will. I.
While this series started in a grounded arena and only got crazier and more ridiculous as time went on I will always come back for the characters, the legacy, and the thrills.
So the sooner the better.
Cheers to the year of the Corona! Let’s RIDE.
